Just extraordinary! With upholstery composed of 20,000 petals, the Hortensia lounge chair uses innovative technology and materials to create a thoroughly novel seating aesthetic that was inspired by its namesake flower. Hortensia started out as a 3D virtual rendering that quickly went viral on social media. Even though the chair didn't physically exist, its sheer novelty prompted multiple orders. Designers Reisinger & Esqué searched for a way to make the chair into a production piece. While they successfully created a limited edition, they hoped that their design could be widely available. Together with Moooi, Reisinger & Esqué have made this possible. Hortensia's structure of voluminous curves is composed of metal and molded polyurethane foam; its tactile upholstery was developed by Esqué. With her expertise in textile design, the Hortensia lounge chair both looks and feels as natural as a blossoming Hortensia. Available in several color ways. Manufactured by Moooi.
