For the design of their Blocks Collection, Neri & Hu were eager to rethink the sofa's form by treating it as if it were an elongated lounge chair. The inspiration for this shape was the geometry employed by Josef Hoffmann in his generously-proportioned Club 1910 lounge chair. With respect for tradition and an intuitive understanding of the contemporary zeitgeist, Neri & Hu singled out some of the specific hallmarks of Hoffmann's design before translating them into the modern era in line with contemporary demands. The designers employ a classical arch geometry through extrusion to form what becomes the Block sofa's striking arms and back. Piping is used to articulate Blocks' resulting upholstered volumes and planes. Available in a range of upholstery options. Blocks is available as a sofa (noted here) as well as a modular sectional.
