Stella McCartney chose the Butterfly coffee table for her design showroom in New York. Designed by Alexander Taylor, the Butterfly coffee table was part of a co-edition with the Japanese brand E&Y. According to the designer, "I wanted to create a small piece of handcrafted furniture on the borderline between genuine art and design, one of those friendly and comfortable presences that give a personal touch to furnishings." With its masterful use of negative space, the seemingly "not structurally viable" aesthetics associated with Butterfly's base are nothing short of a technological tour-de-force (an overarching sentiment that characterizes many Zanotta designs). The Butterfly coffee table has a bent plywood frame, veneered with natural, white or black painted oak. Its top is composed of tempered plate glass. Available in a choice of sizes.
