Designed by: Gatti & Paolini & Teodoro
Manufactured by: Zanotta
Designed by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro in 1968, the Sacco lounge chair is perhaps one of the most iconic furniture designs of the late 1960s. As its name suggests, Sacco is quite literally a “sac” of joined textile panels that has been filled with highly-resistant expanded polystyrene pellets. Unlike fixed chairs or seating, Sacco actually conforms to the specific user’s form – functioning as a chair only when there is a sitter. It’s fabulously enigmatic form functions as a playful sculpture when not in use – its lightweight composition allows it to be easily moved around a space. Sacco is available in its original size along with Zanotta’s newer versions of Medium and Small. The latter is ideal for use in a children’s room or play space.
Sacco is included in the permanent collections of 27 museums worldwide. It’s available in a number of different solid and patterned textiles – leather is also an option. Additional upholstery replacement covers for a Sacco lounge chair are available. Manufactured by Zanotta.
