Created by Gaetano Pesce in 1969 as part of his award-winning UP Series, UP 7 (also known simply as Piede) is as much a sculpture as it is seating. : The sheer scale of the foot is reminiscent of ancient colossal sculptures and obviously served as the inspiration for Pesce. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Pesce had created several prototypical chairs and sofas that employed the literal shape of a hand, fist, or foot. Up 7's toes, toe nails, arch, heel, and ankle are wonderfully delineated in this chaise longue - its visually engaging sheer size makes an incredible Pop statement in any space where it is placed. It is composed of flexible cold-shaped polyurethane foam that has been lacquered in matte black. Manufactured by B&B Italia.
