The Homework desk is an elegant and highly versatile work desk that is available in two sizes. Both desks can be ordered with single, double, or file drawers, and may be configured according to individual needs. Attractive from all sides and made from select materials, Homework is ideal for home or office where a desk will be on view. An innovative detail allows the drawers to 'float' below the glass top giving lightness to the design while also providing additional table area. Each drawer includes a concealed cable management compartment large enough to neatly organize multiple cables and accessories. Homework is precision made with clear glass, chromed steel, premium veneers, and ultra high-gloss finish. Manufactured by Bensen.

Bensen

Bensen is a design and manufacturing group that was founded in 1981 by Niels Bendtsen and is based in Vancouver, Canada. Along with his staff, Danish-born Bendtsen not only designs the pieces for Bensen, but also oversees production of its extensive line of home furnishings – sofas, sectionals, tables, chairs, stools, credenzas, cabinets, and beds. According to Bendsten, “Quality is a funny concept. We tend to think of it as being associated with handcraft. But quality is also about your attitude to design. Craftsmanship is just as much about how you run the machines that are necessary for economic viability.” Bensen’s philosophy of balancing simplicity and honesty in design is a sentiment that Switch Modern shares. Niels Bendtsen

Niels Bendtsen (born 1943 in Denmark) has always been exposed to design and craftsmanship. After emigrating in 1951 to Canada, he began to apprentice under his father, a cabinetmaker who worked under Jacob Kjaer, and continued to build Scandinavian furniture when in Canada. Starting in 1963, Bendtsen had his own retail store where he sold his father's designs, as well as other pieces from Scandinavia. Through this retail experience, he started to learn more about design and manufacturing... in 1972, he sold his store and moved to Denmark to work as a full time designer. While there he worked for a number of Scandinavian companies, including Eilersen, Ikea, and Kebe. It was during this time that he designed the Ribbon chair (1975) for Kebe - this piece is included in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Bendtsen returned to Canada in the 1980s and has continued to create work his namesake brand, Bensen, as well as Keilhauer, Linteloo, and Montis.
