The Centimetre rug highlights the number 10 with a mysterious code - a nod to the tenth letter of the alphabet: J for Jean Badovici, with whom she designed the Villa Maison au Bord de Mer E1027. Numerals along with fragmentary elements of everyday objects can be found in Eileen Gray’s rug designs of the late 1920s. All allude to the wide-ranging interests that Gray encountered in her creative life.
