With the Euvira lounge chair, Jader Almeida continues the tradition of the great Brazilian design masters of the 1960s and 1970s using his own individual and contemporary expression of an elegant lounge chair. The concisely shaped forms, finely orchestrated lines and transitions between thickening and tapering materials lend the chair a solid yet elegant appearance. The cord-covered surfaces create a graphic play of lines, providing the chair with both transparency and high seating comfort. The Lounge Chair is a member of the Euvira product family, which also includes a rocking chair. Together, the various versions are reminiscent of the 1960s club culture in living rooms, hotel rooms or lobbies and demonstrate the skills of contemporary craftsmanship. In dark stained oak with black cord, the Euvira Lounge Chair most clearly refers to the origins of its designer. In light oak with hemp-colored cord cover, it almost looks like a Scandinavian furniture classic. Fabric or leather-covered cushions enhance its expression of comfort. Manufactured by ClassiCon.

ClassiCon, a clever portmanteau deriving from the words “classic” and “contemporary,” perfectly fuses the range of designs produced by this German manufacturer. Founded in 1990, ClassiCon holds the worldwide license to produce Eileen Gray’s iconic range of designs from the 20th century. Before her death in 1973, Gray collaborated with London’s Aram Designs to issue many of her furnishings as production pieces – lounge chairs, sofas, side tables, dining tables, screens, and rugs. ClassiCon is the only licensed manufacturer of Eileen Gray’s designs. In addition to its meticulous production of her furnishings from the 1920s and 1930s, ClassiCon collaborates with a number of contemporary designers like Konstantin Grcic, Jader Alme ida, Nina Mair, Sauerbruch Hutton, Edward Barber + Jay Osgerby, Neri & Hu, Sebastian Herkner, to create new pieces. All ClassicCon pieces are presented as part of an edition where each example is both stamped and numbered. Switch Modern presents a cohesive ClassiCon range that encompasses nearly 100 years of important design.
Jader Almeida (born 1981, Santa Catarina, Brazil) started working as a teenager in the local furniture industry. He later studied architecture and urban planning and then took a job with Lin Brasil, a manufacturer that creates furniture by well-known Brazilian architects and designers. Almeida began developing his own exclusive products in 2004 and has since received a number of prestigious Brazilian and international design awards. In his own words, “It is my aim to create products of enduring value, drawing on the legacy of the great masters while always looking ahead and knowing that today’s decisions will have an impact on tomorrow. Rationality, simple geometry and attention to every detail help to create products with a timeless aesthetic.”
