Arborescence is a family of suspension, floor, and table lamps. Its name denotes – in both French and English – the growth associated with a tree. This overarching metaphor has been visually translated by designer Herve Langlais into a form where three tubular pieces of solid brass either “grow” upward like a tree’s trunk from a disc-shaped base splaying outward like branches or traverse downward from a canopy splaying like a tree’s roots. Each of these tubular rods cants at an angle away from its stem-like cluster creating a cradle for a cylindrical paper shade. Each of these three “branches” or “roots” is expressed at a different length – the resulting asymmetry and juxtaposition of materials provides tremendous visual interest. Arborescence suspension lights of varying drop heights can be clustered together to create dramatic installations. UL listed. Manufactured by CVL Luminaires Contract / CVL Lighting.
The Arborescence suspension light is available in several sizes. Each size is available with a choice of finishes; cylindrical DropPaper shade is also available with a choice of color.
