Step is both visually and conceptually engaging. With his freestanding storage system for books and/or objects, Nendo has reduced the interior of Step's rectilinear form into a series of horizontal planes that resemble, as its name suggests, steps. The resulting simplicity of lines and lightweight volumes become not only a striking way to present books but a markedly pragmatic one - the edge of each shelf can also function as a bookend for books placed on the adjacent shelf. Step is available in two sizes - these can be used independently or presented as multiples of the same unit to create interesting larger compositions. Available in black, white or gray matte lacquer finishes. Shelves within Step are removable but are set at predefined heights. Manufactured by Desalto.
