Designed by: Jean-Michel Frank & Adolphe Chanaux
Manufactured by: Ecart International
The Buffet 1932 sideboard aesthetic features Jean-Michel Frank's unique juxtaposition of strongly geometric forms with luxurious materials and finishes - in this instance, it's the designer's masterful manipulation of the "gouge a bois" (scraped wood) surface treatment of the oak that provides such tremendous depth to the texture of the surface - indeed, the carving/scraping becomes almost like a three-dimensional pattern. Frank's collaborations with interior designer, Adolphe Chanaux, resulted in important commissions from clients like the Rockefellers and Guerlains. Several examples of these collaborative pieces from from the early 1930s are included in museums collections around the world. Available in several finishes. Interior shelves are also composed of oak. Manufactured by Ecart International.
