Designed by: Jean-Michel Frank & Adolphe Chanaux
Manufactured by: Ecart International
The Bureau de Direction's aesthetic features Jean-Michel Frank's unique juxtaposition of strongly geometric forms with luxurious materials and finishes - in this instance, it's the designer's masterful manipulation of the "sandblasted" surface treatment of the oak that provides such tremendous depth to the texture of the surface - indeed, this technique becomes almost like a three-dimensional pattern. This simple, rectilinear shape not only includes three drawers but allows the user to "extend" the usable surfaces by extending the lateral flanks of the form - truly, an ideal desk that provides tremendous flexibility for its user. Frank's collaborations with interior designer, Adolphe Chanaux, resulted in important commissions from clients like the Rockefellers and Guerlains. Several examples of these collaborative pieces from from the early 1930s are included in museums collections around the world. Available in several finishes. Manufactured by Ecart International.
