Designed by: Jean-Michel Frank & Adolphe Chanaux
Manufactured by: Ecart International
The Console Table 1935 aesthetic features Jean-Michel Frank's unique juxtaposition of strongly geometric forms with luxurious materials and finishes - in this instance, it's the designer's masterful manipulation of the "sandblasted" surface treatment of the oak that provides such tremendous depth to the texture of the surface - indeed, this technique becomes almost like a three-dimensional pattern. The designer's treatment of the two base legs is fascinating! The shape of each of leg is characteristic of the corbels used as shelf supports - here, the console top is treated like a "shelf" that is quite literally "supported" by these corbels. Frank's collaborations with interior designer, Adolphe Chanaux, resulted in important commissions from clients like the Rockefellers and Guerlains. Several examples of these collaborative pieces from from the early 1930s are included in museums collections around the world. Available in several finishes. Manufactured by Ecart International.
