Designed by: Pierre Chareau
Manufactured by: Ecart International
Pierre Chareau's designs are a unique blend of Cubism and Art Deco - often pairing beautiful hardwoods with painted steel or wrought iron rather than the preferred chromed tubular steel of many of his contemporaries in the 1920s. In addition to the stool noted here, a table variant with a flat seat/surface was developed for the bar and smoking lounge of the Grand Hotel de Tours - an example of this table version is included in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt Museum, New York. The T Stool 1927 features a steel base in an anthracite finish. The stool's gently curved seat is composed of oak and is available in several stained finishes. The seat is also available in exquisitely grained rosewood. Manufactured by Ecart International.
