Enigma 425 was designed by Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama in 2003. Uchiyama presented a design idea to Louis Poulsen which deconstructed the traditional chandelier concept into slim layers of concentric circles. This involved floating shades held by ultra thin wires, providing a transparent and light expression. The name enigma stands for ‘mystery’, referring to the fact that the shades appear to hover when viewed illuminated from a distance. The idea fitted well with Louis Poulsen´s product philosophy, and was a new interpretation of the multi-shade system - Japanese grace combined with Scandinavian simplicity. The cone is created in cast aluminum, the shades are created in matte coated acrylic, and the pendant stem is created in extruded brushed aluminum. This fixture is available in a choice of colors. Suitable for dry locations. UL listed. Manufactured by Louis Poulsen.
