Overview

The T series provides a sense of freshness thanks to the contrast between the natural wood and steel parts. The wood components of the T counter stool consist only of a seat and backrest created by three-dimensional cutting, and wood legs. Added to these is the flexible S-shaped steel part that connects the backrest and seat to make the stool look light as well as comfortable. The steel foot rest is the same color as the S-shaped steel. It was named a T stool because it looks like the shape of a "T" when viewed from behind. The T stool is available in counter height and bar height. Manufactured by Maruni.

Maruni is one of Japan’s most celebrated handcrafted wood furniture manufacturers. The visionary company was at the forefront of bentwood working in the 1920s and 1930s—a technique that was considered extremely difficult at the time. The distinctive lines and curves of Maruni furniture are unmistakable—not surprising, given the company’s dedication to developing its own carving machines and other equipment in an effort to produce ever-more sophisticated woodworking techniques. Maruni draws its inspiration from Western-style classical furniture, imparting Japanese influences into each design—the result is a distinctive style that is entirely unique.

Jasper Morrison

Jasper Morrison (born 1959 in London) studied design at the Royal College of Art and Kingston Polytechnic in London, as well as at HDK in Berlin. After completing two degrees, he opened a design office in London in 1986. That office is still open today, and he has since expanded his presence around the world, opening branches in Paris and Tokyo. Over the last three decades, Jasper Morrison has designed for a number of well-known brands, including Alessi, Cappellini, Flos, Glas Italia, Ideal Standard, Magis, Maruni, Muji, Olivetti, Rowenta, Samsung, and Vitra. He was responsible for the design of the Hannover Tram that was awarded the IF Transportation Design Prize and the Ecology award.
