Don't confuse the new Heracleum III Linear with its Endless sibling. Look closely and you'll see blossoms gently sweeping upwards at either side, making the Heracleum III Linear perfect to hang above long surfaces, like your dining table or kitchen island. The Heracleum light is a remarkable design that is truly an example of the intersection of technology and art. According to the lamp’s designer, “I had this idea of where a bundle of stick-like branches are split then split again ending up like leaves on the end of a branch.” Pot’s inspiration for the form came from nature – the ubiquitous Heracleum plant often referred to as cow parsnip or hogweed. In order to achieve the Heracleum light’s novel aesthetic, the designer credits fellow designer, Marcel Wanders, with developing the technology to enable it. Referred to as “Electrosandwich,” this patented process powers the LEDs directly through layers of conductive material within the frame itself. Dutch manufacturer, Moooi, now produces several versions of this lighting design. Noted here is Heracleum Endless, a linear version of the light that was designed to be modular where lengths can be joined to create dramatic, seemingly “endless” installations. Available with a choice of finish. UL listed. Manufactured by Moooi.
