The Random II suspension light was designed by Bertjan Pot in 1999 and subsequently introduced into the Moooi collection in 2002 – it instantly became a bestseller. The form’s simplicity and associated levity is enabled by a special production process whereby strands of glass fiber are soaked in epoxy resin and wrapped randomly around an inflated beach ball. The beach ball is then burst and extracted from a round opening in the resulting spherical web that has now become Random’s diffuser. This opening also provides a mechanism for easily changing the bulb. Available in several sizes as well as a color choice. The Random II light works beautifully as a single suspension lamp; these can also be hung together in various sizes and colors to create striking installations. UL listed. Manufactured by Moooi.
