Pebble Rubble is an extraordinarily vast sectional sofa system that features a range of seating shapes along with backrests and armrests also of varying shapes that all evoke the organic form of stones and pebbles. Pebble Rubble's various seating elements are, in fact, composed of a particular arrangement of elements that can be further combined with other elements to create a plethora of uniquely combined seating configurations - indeed, "formations" - all of which function on a highly sculptural level. In addition to these unique elements, the user has the option of upholstering the "elements within an element" in different textiles allowing for their bespoke objectification within the larger composition that truly affords unique aesthetics. As Sofia Lagervist and Anna Lindgren of Sweden's Front Design explain regarding their design: "Our new system of furniture for Moroso took its forms from found shapes in nature. As children in our native Sweden, our playground was the forest, and we imagined rocks, moss, and fallen trees to be furniture and places for the body to rest and occupy. For this seating group we 3D scanned rocks we saw on our many forest walks, and composed these organic shapes together into furniture pieces." In addition to a plethora of upholstery options, Front Design specifically developed a fabric for Kvadrat called Arda. Arda is a knitted upholstery textile which recreates complex natural forms, structures, surfaces, and colors found deep in the wild and reinforces the surface treatment of "pebble" aesthetic forms. Manufactured by Moroso.
