Paola Lenti's new Jardin Collection features two lounge chairs - high and low versions - as well as a chaise longue. Each piece is characterized by its undulating curves in both the seating expanse as well as its underside support structure. The forms are reminiscent of the 20th century furniture designs of Clara Porset - indeed, Paola Lenti specifically refers to the Jardin Collection as an homage to the designer. Clara Porset (1895 - 1981) was a Cuban-born furniture and interior designer. From 1935 until her death, she lived and worked mainly in Mexico, where she is considered a pioneer of 20th century furniture design. She was educated in the United States and Cuba, and later studied in Europe in Germany and Paris. With her husband, Xavier Guerrero, she collaborated on a proposal for MOMA's 1940 landmark competition, Organic Design in Home Furnishings. This was the first time Latin American designers were included in the museum's call for proposals. Sadly, her husband was given sole credit for the design in the exhibition's publication. Jardin is available in a range of woven upholstery color options as well as finishes for the base. Noted here are the Jardin lounge chairs. Manufactured by Paola Lenti.
