The Kauri Cube Dining Table features an engaging combination of materials - iron base and top in solid Kauri wood. Kauri is an ancient conifer tree that first appeared during the Jurassic Period. Several thousand years ago, a series of cataclysms submerged entire Kauri forests, trapping the wood in mud for millennia in quite literally the same condition as if it had just been felled. This wood is carefully harvested to create extraordinary designs - each with a unique aesthetic. Given the associated dimensions of the trunks themselves, table tops can be made in a range of unexpectedly large sizes. Gaps in the Kauri wood table top can be filled with resin also resulting in an extraordinary aesthetic. The iron base associated with Kauri Cube will accommodate a table top that ranges in width and depth - the smallest and largest options are noted. Of course, a wide range of size options exist within this range. The Kauri wood used for this piece ranges in age from 7,000 - 50,000 years. Manufactured by Riva 1920.
