Designed by: Claudio Bellini
Manufactured by: Riva 1920
This extraordinary piece was created as part of Riva 1920’s invitation to 33 designers to create a piece of furniture by repurposing the cylindrical oak pylons that are staked into the Venice lagoon as guideposts. Bellini chose to present these pieces vertically at slight cants – the upper portion of each briccola post has been bisected by a horizontal plane in polished stainless steel or glass that functions as a surface and reinforces the visual metaphor of the pylons emerging from the surface of the water. As much sculpture as it is surface, the Venice console is available in three widths – 49.2" (4 pylons), 70.9" (5 pylons), and 98.4" (6 pylons). Given the nature of the material, each pylon will be ultimately be unique. Manufactured by Riva 1920.
