Luca Nichetto's Paradise Bird Collection for Wittmann has been introduced with a striking new aesthetic - the designer has developed a variant of the original collection that features a closed backrest, creating a sense of comfort and security that is every bit as chic as the original collection. The refined forms surprise with an unmatched seating feel - their pocket springs and down filling deliver the kind of comfort one associates with Wittmann's craftsmanship. The defining characteristic of the lounge chair, sofa, and high-back lounge chair (noted here) is the backrest now seemingly envelops the generous seat base like a protective nest. For this new variant, Wittmann and Nichetto have replaced the extravagant metal frame found in the original design with an upholstered curved shell that can be covered in fabric or leather. An aesthetic coup that changes perceptions of the collection significantly, while retaining and reinforcing all of its original strengths. The enclosed backrest comprises a precisely finished quilted element, while the individually stitched rows carry instantly recognizable echoes of the original metal frame design. Beautifully executed piping provides the finishing touch. For even more individuality and intrinsic value, the curved shell of the back can be finished in a material or color that contrasts with the seat and back cushion to create striking juxtapositions of texture and color.
