Zanini de Zanine (born 1978 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) grew up watching his father, architect José Zanine Caldas, who collaborated mainly with Oscar Niemeyer. In 2002, he graduated with a degree in Industrial Design at PUC-Rio. In 2003, he began producing solid wood furniture sourced from demolition -- columns, beams, and posts of old houses -- that was coined as "Contemporary Carpentry." Beginning in 2005, he created a new line of furniture pieces produced industrially using controlled-origin wood and different materials such as plastic, acrylic, and metals. He has collaborated with several manufacturers including Cappellini and Tacchini.
