Soriana remains one of the most coveted pieces of furniture for interior design projects around the world! In collaboration with Tobia Scarpa, Cassina has reissued this collectors' icon back from its archives and, with the utmost respect for authenticity, has employed environmentally friendly materials as part of this reboot. Soriana was originally designed in 1969 as part of an intuitive vision by its designers, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, that would be destined to re-write the history of upholstered furniture. By taking advantage of new polyurethane foam forming techniques at the time, they crafted seating that, for the first time, had no need for internal support, taking its shape from the grip of the metal structure that embraces it. Falling somewhere between formal and informal, its inviting and open shape embraced a range of possible lifestyles; In 1970, Soriana was awarded the prestigious Compasso d'Oro as a masterpiece of complexity having been achieved through simple tools.&npsp; Noted here is the Soriana sofa available in different sizes.
