Designed by: Victor Vasilev
Manufactured by: Oluce
Victor Vaislev’s Superluna lamp fabulously distills aspects of the lighting designs of several of Oluce’s legendary designers – Tito Agnoli, Vico Magistretti and Joe Colombo. Organized around a central rod like Colombo’s Coupe series and Agnoli’s 387 lamp, the designer has “threaded” two hemispherical pivoting diffusers of different diameters. Yet, unlike the Coupe and 387 lamps, Vasilev has been able to completely conceal all the electrical components within Superluna’s tubular structure. Using LED technology as the light source, the “lamping footprint” becomes small enough to also be concealed within the pole itself. The white interior of each pivoting hemisphere becomes a luminous circle that mimics the ways in which a celestial body appears in the sky – indeed, like a Super Moon. This manipulation of diffused light as an aura is conceptually reminiscent of many of Magistretti’s iconic lighting designs from the 1960s. Superluna is available in floor, wall, and table versions – noted here is the floor version that is available with a choice of finishes. UL listed. Manufactured by Oluce.
