Designed by: Roberto Barbieri
Manufactured by: Zanotta
The Lio Bar Stool was the logical result of Barbieri's popular Lia range of seating from the late 1990s. Like the dining chairs, the Lio stool is also a tour-de-force of minimalist seating - its thin frame and similarly narrow-profile yet gently curved seat and back expanses, ensure both ergonomics and a profound levity of form. Lio's aluminum alloy frame is available as polished or in painted finishes. Seat and back internal composition is polyurethane. Removable upholstery is available in a wide range of textile and leather options. The front horizontal foot rest is composed of satin finish stainless steel. The way in which the upholstery and the frame interact within the form is one of the many elements that makes Lio stool so remarkable - the frame is unexpectedly revealed - akin to punctuation - where the vertical planes of the legs meet the horizontal seating plane. The Lio stool is available in two heights - appropriate for counter or bar. Manufactured by Zanotta.

“Many people might deem it an exaggeration to present the products of just one manufacturer as a ‘micromodel’ of Italian furniture design in its entirety. However, if it makes no sense to claim that Zanotta’s production alone represents all the key moments of the Italian design history of the last sixty years, we must admit that this history could not be written without referring to its contribution.” - Emilio Ambasz, 1988. From its inception in 1954, Zanotta has been known for the quality, function, and comfort of its furniture designs – all underscored with a remarkable commitment to research and experimentation with materials and technology to enable new aesthetics. Zanotta’s catalogue of iconic modern and contemporary designs chronicles the evolution of Italian furniture design within the 20th and 21st centuries.
