Pierre Chareau (1883 - 1950) was a French architect and designer.  Born in Le Havre, France, he studied at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he concentrated on both architecture and design.  He is perhaps best known for his collaboration between 1928 - 1932 with Bernard Bijvoet and Louis Dalbet to create the iconic Maison de Verre residence in Paris.  Chareau's furniture designs in the late 1920s explored the tenets of Cubism and are known for their use of combining different materials to create luxurious juxtapositions.
